House of Mr James Rae, Peel Forest, New Zealand, From the Ashburton Guardian of 12/10/1901:
"Wedding - A quiet little wedding took place at Peel Forest on Wednesday, September 18th, the contracting parties beingMr FF Johnstone, of Springburn, and Miss E Rae, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs Jas Rae, of Peel Forest. The ceremony took place at the residence of the brides parents, where a large number of relatives and friends had congregated. Misses R and E Rae acted as bridesmaids, and Mr F Rae as best man. the bride looked very nice in a fawn dress trimmed with silk and white lace to match, with the orthodox veil and wreath, the bridesmaids being dressed in shot material. The bride was given away by her father. After the ceremony the bridal party and guests were entertained at afternoon tea, when the usual toasts were duely honoured. In the evening a dance was given, which was kept going by a large number of friends until the small hours of the morning. The music was supplied by Mr O Whetton and Mr F Lorgelly, while Mr F Johnstone acted as M.C. A few songs were sung during the evening, which helped to make things enjoyable. The list of presents wetre numerous and pretty, some being very valuable."
Note the wedding was "quiet", took place at the parents home, and the bride wore a fawn dress, not white, probably due to the fact the bride was 7 months pregnant at the time., Groom=Francis Finlay Johnston, Bride=Mary Eliza Rae1,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,2 |

St Andrews Church, Ruby Street, Tingha, Guyra Shire, NSW, Australia, According to the rites of the Church of England
From the Quirindi Advocate:
Wedding - LAYTE[sic] - LITTLE - St Andrew's Church of England, Ruby Street, Tingha, at 10am on January 1, was the scene of a very pretty wedding (the church being packed to capacity by invited guests only), when Thelma Grace, eldest daughter of of Mr and Mrs A E Little was united to Mr Gordon Layte[sic], eldest son of Mr and Mrs P T[sic] Layte[sic], late of Nundle and Uralla and now of Woolomin.
The bride who was dressed in crepe de chine, ivory coloured, covered with chantilly lace, the veil being fashioned with pearls instead of the usual orange blossoms, entered the church on the arm of her father, who gave her away.
The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Clara Little, and the bridegroom's cousin, Moss[sic?] Amy Dunbar. Miss Little was dressed in sky blue crepe de chine, trimmed with silver lace, whilst Miss Dunbar wore a gown of green crepe de chine covered with gold lace.
Mr Layte[sic] was attended by Mr Allan Cross, of Woolbrook, whilst Mr A G Little, brother of teh bride, acted as groomsman.
The Rev G H Rae officiated.
The wedding breakfast was held at the home of the bride's parents where her mother and the bridegroom's mother received the guests, whose number was in teh vicinity of 100.
The great popularity of both the bride and the bridegroom in Tingha lone stands forth greatly when the costly gifts in silver, gold and glass are examined. The many gifts came from all parts of the State, includingNew Zealand. A leading authority in silver and glassware has estimated the value at £100, several large tables being used to place them on view.
Many were the toasts and eulogistic addresses, all speakers referring to the bride and bridegroom in glowing terms. After the breakfast Mr and Mrs Layte[sic] left on a motor tour of Northern New South Wales, their future home being in the pick of three northern towns that will be visited during their tour., Groom=Herbert Gordon Layt, Bride=Thelma Grace Little1,2,3 |

Note the wedding was "quiet", took place at the parents home, and the bride wore a fawn dress, not white, probably due to the fact the bride was 7 months pregnant at the time., Groom=Francis Finlay Johnston, Bridesmaid=Ruby Rae, Minister=A Bruce Todd, Best Man=Francis Rae, Bridesmaid=Elizabeth Rae1,14,4,6,7,8,10,11,12 |
