From what I saw at last years Akademy presentaion, I think there's a bit of work that would need to be done inside Qt to make the dialog work. For example the current workflow is: show Dialog, on Accept get page range, generate pages. But to have live preview in the dialog of the pages will require pages to be rendered in advance by the app or with a call-back mechanism for the dialog to request pages be generated. Which also means each app will need re-writing to take full advantage of the dialog. Designing such a feature in QPrinter is on the to-do list, but I doubt that will be done for Qt 4.6.
