I've started on a clone of Marco Polo for GNOME, called Shackleton. Grab it via bzr from here: http://burtonini.com/bzr/shackleton
It's mostly a prototype at the moment so uses Python and GObject. I'd happily welcome patches to split the modules out so that you can run it without other GNOMEy libraries such as GConf, but does let you do clever things like disable screensaver locking and mount devices when you join a specific wifi access point.
On the grand to do list is geoclue support, obviously. Geolocation is a very tricky area though.
